Governor Greg Abbott recently announced that the City of The Colony was designated by the Texas Music Office (TMO) as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community.

“This designation confirms that The Colony has set a vibrant stage for showcasing iconic and up-and-coming talent at exciting music venues like Lava Cantina, the Truck Yard and the Maverick Dance Hall, slated to open in 2025,” said Mayor Richard Boyer.

“Earning this designation confirms that our musical story hasn’t just been written, but it’s entering an exciting new chapter where residents and visitors can experience world class entertainment locally,” Mayor Boyer said.

Created in 2016, the Texas Music Office’s Music Friendly Texas Program is the first of its kind in the country. The program seeks to foster music business-related economic development and job creation in Texas communities. In a recent press release from Gov. Gregg Abbot announcing this exciting designation for The Colony, he shares how this achievement aids in cultivating tremendous economic growth.
